During all my journeys I used to take hundreds of slides, now it is all digital. I use a Nikon D40. A small selection of these photos you can find in the subtitled photo section on these web pages. I enjoy greatly sharing my photos, information and anecdotes from my trips. For example, my 2 hour shows on Tibet include sections on Tibetan life (monasteries, Buddhism, culture, architecture, etc.), survival strategies of local people (nomadism, agriculture, medicinal plants, mushrooms, fruit trees), and the environment (climate, geography, medicinal and other wild flowers, forests, wildlife and hot springs). In addition I am documenting modernization taking place and talk about project work I am currently involved in. Often I select a certain cultural or political area (i.e. West Sichuan, Gyarong, Kham, Amdo, Litang, Lhasa, Kongpo area etc.) or just the best slides of the most recent trips. Also, sometimes I focus on certain subjects such as wild flowers, mushrooms, mushroom markets, forests, architecture, hot springs etc.. He did a fabulous job! He'd prepared a very informative Power-Point presentation specifically for the class, which helped focus the presentation. His depth of knowledge was clearly evident, not only on biological but also on social and cultural aspects. More importantly, his enthusiasm for his topics was infectious: the students (mostly senior-level, but also including a few graduate students) were engaged from beginning to end. He managed to both impart a great deal of information while making the 2 hours fly by with his warmth and humor. The students were most appreciative, and learned a great deal.
